Welcome to my photo gallery
You'll find pictures that I shot over a few years.
I used different cameras of different qualities to shoot these photos.
Some pictures are taken with a Canon AE1,
other are taken with a Olympus Digital C4040 from 2001, then there are pictures
taken with various digital point and shoot cameras and even with a phone(!) such
as a Sony Ericsson W800. These days I use my iPhone to take quick pics if I
don't have my SLR with me.
In January 2009 I finally upgraded to a nice digital SLR, the Canon 50D. Many of the newer pictures are taken with that camera.
My father had an old
Zorki 4 and the first pics I took were taken with that camera back in the
70s. However, currently I don't have any pictures taken with that camera in digital format.
Growing up as a teenager I then had point and shoots.
In the late 90s I got a Fujifilm (I think it was the
MX-1200) with 1.3 mega pixel(!). That was the stand of technology at that time.
Digital had arrived! Obviously, the quality was not that of print but it was good
enough to replace point & shoot film cameras for those "memory" shots and much
cheaper than developing film.
While on a trip in Italy in 2000, I got the
Canon AE1, a classic SLR and the first one with a chip.
I loved it but after shooting with it for about 2 years I stopped using it
because I couldn't afford to develop all the films.
I think it was X-mas 2001 when I got a
Olympus C4040 with 4.1 mega pixel as a gift. It is much more than a
point and shoot since it gives you control over quite a few settings while
shooting. The pictures from India are taken with that camera.
Summer 2005 I got a
Sanyo Xacti C5. It was one of the first digital film cameras that could record straight to a card and didn't need a tape.
It records in VGA (640x480) quality at full 30fps and can take pictures while filming. I still use it today on trips (see pics from Brazil in 2008)
My wife has had for a long time a Canon Powershoot S400. So you'll see quite a few pictures taken with that (e.g. the ones taken in Vermont).
You'll find some pictures taken with a Nikon Coolpix and a recent Sanyo
(pictures from Europe and Brazil from 2008/2009).
2008 marked the year for me where I thought that digital SLRs have reached a price/value point that is worth investing.
I was finally ready to get a new camera and after a long back and forth,
whether to go with Nikon or Canon, I decided to get the
Canon 50D in January of 2009.
I don't regret that decision. I'm absolutely in love with it.
This is now my camera of choice and I carry it around whenever I can.
If I don't have it on me and I need to take a picture, I usually use my phone.
Of course, buying the camera is only the first part of the investment needed.
Good lenses don't come cheap. So I take my time and try out different ones.
My everyday lens is currently the
Canon EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens that came with the 50D
and I bought a
Canon EF-S 10-22 mm f/3.5-4.5 USM for my wide-angle needs.
I also have a
Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 II for indoor and dark scenes where I don't want to use a flash.
When I do have to use a flash, I use the
Speedlite 580EX II
As you probably can tell, I love to travel. Enjoy the pics.
